The Wall Street Journal features Spring Island green home for sale

The Wall Street Journal features a South Carolina green home for sale in a Relative Values story about homes built with recycled materials. The Spring Island home, 9 Rice Gate Circle, features a 4,000-square-foot main residence with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The 3.5-acre property—with a pond—is listed at $2.15 million.

The Wall Street Journal’s Candace Jackson writes:

DETAILS: The property includes a 1,000-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom guest house. There’s a woodworking shop, a photography darkroom and a separate building for an office.

REUSED: Heart pine wood used throughout the home was taken from a lower Manhattan factory that was closed after Sept. 11.

CULTURE FIX: Spring Island, a gated community with a nature preserve, has a visiting artist’s program that brings over a dozen artists to the island each year whose works are displayed on the property.
