Montana ranch Tammany Castle featured as ‘Unreal Estate’

Tammany Castle, a Montana horse ranch for sale located in the stunning Bitterroot Valley, is featured as “Unreal Estate” among Canada’s Sun Media group. This new listing by Hall and Hall, an 11-acre piece of Montana ranch real estate with a 5,400-square-foot home, is listed at $2.95 million.

Fully restored and converted to a luxury residence, this is the building created by “Copper King” Marcus Daly, a major figure in turn-of-the-century Montana, as the millionaire owner of the Anaconda Copper Mine.

In 1893, his favourite horse, Tammany, was pitted against Lamplighter, an A-list horse from the eastern U.S. Daly declared, “If Tammany beats Lamplighter, I’ll build him a castle.” Tammany won by four lengths, and this is his “castle.”

The spacious interior now features four bedroom suites, a large conservatory/living area, library and modern luxury kitchen. Additionally, the home occupies a bluff that overlooks the Bitterroot Valley.
