CFI Global Fisheries Management Profiled in Northern Colorado Business Report

The Northern Colorado Business Report wrote a piece on Shannon Skelton’s successful creek restoration company and Sublime client CFI Global in a recent article called “Profits flow into river rehabilitation firm” July 27.

Skelton’s company, the article reported, generates more than $2 million per year as CFI reworks stretches of water one bend at a time.

The fisheries biologist works with farmers and ranchers seeking to turn overcrowded agricultural streams into blue ribbon trout waters at a cost of about $250,000 a mile. That price tag includes a year studying the fisheries habitat and planning the new shape of the river.

It’s a business that Skelton started inFort Collinsin 1997 with just a computer he bought from his brother. The business now has seen sustained growth since the recession in 2009.

“CFI Global has seen substantial growth since the recession. It completed four projects in 2010. Since then, revenue has grown about 40 percent,” wrote writer Steve Lynn.

The coverage in NCBR came just before the release of “The River Restored,” a short film documenting Skelton’s international stream restoration and fisheries habitat work.
