Spring Island’s LEED-certified home featured in Wall Street Journal

Spring Island’s LEED-certified home on Bird Patch Trail is featured in The Wall Street Journal.

The story showcased three homes in private clubs, including Bird Patch Cottage, located at 15 Bird Patch Trail on Spring Island.

Listed at $895,000, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom Cottage will eventually be accompanied by a main house and garage. Bird Patch Cottage has earned the highest rating – LEED Platinum – from the United States Green Building Council for its energy efficiency and minimal impact on its natural surroundings. As an eco community, nearly half of Spring Island’s 3,000 acres are protected as nature preserve, and developers have set a limit of 410 homes on the island.

After the $125,000 initiation fee, members pay $17,000 each year in dues and fees to use the world-class golf course, 13,000-square-foot Sports Complex, equestrian facilities and other amenities.
